Patriots advance to Super Bowl LII

Tell me if you’ve heard this again? The New England Patriots advance to another Super Bowl.

The Patriots defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Conference Championship game. They won 24-20 to advance to Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This is their third Super Bowl appearance in four-years. They are 2-0 in those precious two Super Bowl games.

New England improved to 15-3 on the season. The Jaguars ended their season with a 12-7 record.

The Patriots will face either the Minnesota Vikings or the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. If the Eagles advance later tonight, it would be the top two seeds to make it to the final game of the season.

New England had to overcome a 10-point deficit in the final nine minutes of the game. The Patriots needed their comeback once again to get the win.

Tom Brady connected with Danny Amendola for a nine-yard touchdown to cut he lead to 20-17 following an extra point with 8:44 remaining. Then, with 2:48 left in the game, Brady hit Amendola once again for a go ahead four-yard touchdown, as the Patriots now led 24-20.

The Jaguars could not convert on their possession on a fourth-down that was broken up by Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Their offense was also shut down in the second half, as they could only muster two field goals.

Josh Lambo made a 54-yard field goal in the third quarter. He also made a 43-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles hit Marcedes Lewis for a four-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Leonard Fournette also scored on a four-yard rushing touchdown.

After Fournette’s touchdown, Jacksonville led 14-9 before James White scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown to make it 14-10 left in the first half with 55 seconds to go. Stephen Gostkowski also made a 31-yard field goal.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went 26 of 38 for 290 passing yards. He also had two touchdowns.

Dion Lewis had nine carries for 34 yards.

Brandin Cooks has six receptions for 100 yards. Amendola has seven receptions for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Lewis has seven receptions for 32 yards. Philip Dorsett also made a 31-yard reception.

Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski also made a field goal.

Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles went 23 of 36 for 293 passing yards. He also had a touchdown.

Fournette had 24 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown. T.J. Yeldon had five carries for 25 yards.

Allen Hurns has six receptions for 80 yards. Corey Grant has three receptions for 59 yards. Marquise Lee had four receptions for 41 yards. Keelan Cole has two receptions for 37 yards. Lewis also had a four-yard touchdown.

Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo also made two field goals.
