According to reports in Venezuela, Chicago Cubs minor-league pitcher Williams Pérez is under arrest in his native country. He is accidentally accused of killing his former coach.

Pérez was reportedly handed a gun to 52-year-old César Quintero. As it was handed over, the gun went off and killed Quintero.

Pérez is the registered owner of the gun. He is reportedly had a permit to carry the weapon, as well.

Pérez was a non-invitee for the Iowa Cubs last season. He went 7-10 with a 5.01 ERA in 23 starts.

Pérez made his MLB debut in 2015, where he pitched two seasons. He went 9-9 with a 5.18 ERA in 170 1/3 innings.
