Bridges leads Wildcats in win over Musketeers

The No. 3 Villanova Wildcats defeated the No. 4 Xavier Musketeers on Saturday afternoon at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Wildcats won 95-79 on FOX.

The Wildcats improved to 24-3 on the season. Villanova improved to 11-3 within the Big East Conference.

Even though the Wildcats defeated the Musketeers, Xavier is the conference leader. They are 12-3 within the conference and 24-4 overall.

Villanova swept the season series between the two teams. The Wildcats also won 89-65 on January 10th.

Mikal Bridges led the Wildcats with 25 points. He also had three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Almost every Wildcats player, who entered the game, scored in double-figures. Only two bench players, Jermaine Samuels and Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree, did not score in double-figures.

Donte DiVincenzo also had 21 points. Jalen Brunson, Omari Spellman, and Eric Paschall scored 11 points each.

Villanova had 16 bench points. Collin Gillespie had 10 of those points.

Trevor Blueitt had a game-high 26 points. He also had five rebounds and one steal.

Blueitt was one of four Musketeers, who scored in double-figures. J.P. Macura had 14 points, while Naji Marshall added 11 points, and Quentin Goodin had 10 points.

Xavier had 14 bench points. Paul Scruggs and Tyrique Jones led the bench with five points each.
