Channing Frye has only been a member of the Los Angeles Lakers for a short amount of time. Yet, he may have to miss some additional time.

While many players are in Los Angeles celebrating the All-Star weekend, Frye flew back to Cleveland, Ohio. He underwent Laparoscopic Appendectomy on Friday night.

He’s expected to make a full recovery. Once he gets back in Los Angeles following the All-Star break, he will be re-evaluated by the Lakers medical staff.

He did not play in the Lakers loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night. Frye had three points in his Lakers debut on Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans.

According to Sages, one on every 2,000 people will have an appendectomy in their lifetime. Surgery is required to remove the infected appendix.

The appendix is removed traditionally through three incisions in the right lower abdominal wall.
