At one point this season, especially during the trade deadline, Kemba Walker’s name was being brought up as a potential trade candidate. Instead of dealing their star, the Charlotte Hornets held onto him.

On Wednesday night, he became the franchise’s all-time leading scorer.

Walker scored the basket with 18.9 seconds left in the game. The basket came with the Cavaliers leading 118-105.

After he scored the basket, his teammates clapped on the bench in a congratulatory gesture.

Walker scored a team-high 21 points against the Cavaliers. Curry was drafted by the Hornets in the 1988 NBA Expansion Draft.

He then played a decade for the team. Curry was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year during the 1993-1994 season.

Walker, on the other hand, was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats (which was re-named the Charlotte Hornets) with the ninth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. He is in his seventh season with the team.

“I’m really happy for Kemba,” Hornets owner Michael Jordan said after the game. “Becoming a franchise’s all-time leading scorer is a big accomplishment and it’s a testament to his hard work, dedication and passion for the game of basketball. He exemplifies what it means to be a Hornet. His effort, leadership and commitment to our team and the City of Charlotte is second to none. I’m proud to have him on our team. Congratulations, Kemba!”
