Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving is officially done for the rest of this season, including the playoffs. He had season-ending surgery on Saturday.

Irving, who was acquired in a blockbuster deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers last Sept., had two screws inserted into his left patella tendon.

After being acquired, he, along with Gordon Hayward, were supposed to help the Celtics challenge the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference playoffs this season. However, both Irving and Hayward suffered season-ending injuries.

“The surgery went exactly as planned, and we expect Kyrie to be fully healthy for training camp in the fall,” General Manager Danny Ainge said in a statement.
