Jay Triano served as the Phoenix Suns interim head coach for much of the season. He replaced Earl Watson after he was fired just three games into the 2017-18 campaign.
However, according to the Associated Press, Triano is no longer a candidate to be the Suns Head Coach moving forward. Phoenix will be moving onto their second phase of the interview process.
Former Charlotte Hornets Head Coach Steve Clifford is expected to be one of the front runners for the job. Clifford was let go by the Hornets after five seasons after the conclusion of their season in April.
Triano has said that he wanted the full-time job. However, the Canadian will have to look elsewhere for employment now.
