Schumacher gets inaugural No. 1 qualifier in Virginia

North Dinwiddie, Va. – U.S. Army Racing Top Fuel Dragster pilot Tony Schumacher is the No. 1 qualifier of the inaugural Virginia NHRA Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park on Saturday. The Austin, Texas native piloted his dragster to the top spot with a 3.777 at 327.51 mph.

Schumacher will look to get his first win of the season on Sunday. He now has three No. 1 qualifiers on the season.

“We are going to figure out what the track can take tomorrow since it should be a hot day, which is exactly what we want,” Schumacher said. “We have an incredible team, we are continuing to figure things out and trying to get our first win since last year.”

Reigning Top Fuel Champion pilot Brittany Force is the No. 2 qualifier. The California native, who is the pilot of the Monster Energy Top Fuel Dragster, went 3.808 at 324.75 mph.

Amalie Oil Top Fuel Dragster pilot Terry McMillen is the No. 3 qualifier in what is believed to be his first event at the track. The Indiana native went 3.816 at 323.81 mph.

Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster pilot Doug Kalitta is the No. 4 qualifier. The Michigan native – who has previously won at the facility – went 3.827 at 320.36 mph.

FireAde Top Fuel Dragster pilot Leah Pritchett is the No. 5 qualifier. The Indiana native went 3.830 at 320.05 mph.
