The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly having internal conversations about Luka Dončić, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. He is reporting that the European star is at the forefront of their discussions for the third overall pick.

Dončić was previously mentioned as a Top 2 pick. However, he has refused to send his medical records to the Sacramento Kings, where he does not want to play.

Wojnarowski said that the NBA teams are split on his potential. He said some believe he is a top prospect, while others do not even have him in the Top 5.

Dončić could be a huge offensive piece for the Hawks, who are rebuilding. The team hired Lloyd Pierce as their new head coach last month after the team parted ways with previous head coach Mike Budenholzer.

Pierce signed a three-year deal to be the Hawks head coach.

Dončić, 19, is expected to be a point guard in the league. Right now, the Hawks have Dennis Schröder running the point, who reportedly wants to move on.

Despite this interest in Dončić, the Hawks may have interest in Jaren Jackson Jr. and Marvin Bagley if the Kings decide to pass on Bagley with the second overall pick. Yet, Bagley is the only pick, who reportedly wants to be drafted by Sacramento.

Dončić, who will attend the draft in New York at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, helped his Real Madrid team to the EuroLeague championship in 2018. He was the EuroLeague MVP and EuroLeague Final Four MVP.

He was also named All-EuroLeague First Team and was a two-time EuroLeague Rising Star in 2017 and 2018. He was also the Liga ACB MVP in 2018, while helping his team win the Liga ACB Championship in 2015, 2016, and 2018.
