Former Florence High School athlete Mikal Lundy and fellow coach Brittany Shields guided their Moorestown High School Unified Basketball Team in the Special Olympics on Monday to a win over Team New York at the University of Washington’s Alaska Airlines Arena. Team New Jersey won 25-14.
Moorestown High School Principal Andrew Seibel is also with the team.
Team New Jersey is playing in the Interscholastic Unified 3 group. Besides New Jersey and New York, their group also featured Team Ohio and Team Washington.

With the win, Team New Jersey will first play Team Washington on Tuesday at 9:15 am PST at University of Washington’s IMA Court D. Then, at 3:30 pm PST, Team New Jersey will face Team Ohio, also at IMA Court D.
On Monday, Team Ohio defeated Team Washington, 38-8 at Marv Harshman Court.
Team New Jersey consists of Robert Fletcher, Grace Ricciotti-Molishus, Ian Banquier, Raymond Brady, Thomas Crable, Colin Ginley, Michael Grant, Ricardo Teixeira Filho, Megan Vazquez, and Marcus Harvey.
In March, the Quakers defeated the Union City Soaring Eagles to win the first-ever NJSIAA Unified Basketball Championship at the CURE Insurance Arena. Moorestown won the game 25-21.

With the win, they received the opportunity to represent Team New Jersey in the Special Olympics. Special Olympics New Jersey has more than 24,000 athletes throughout the State, along with hosting an annual Special Olympics event every June at The College of New Jersey.
