The Orlando Pride have released defender Lotta Ökvist on Tuesday. The 21-year-old was acquired by the team in a trade with the Houston Dash on March 21st.
The Pride’s third-round pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft went back to the Dash in exchange for Ökvist.
“Lotta has been an outstanding professional with a terrific attitude during her time with the Pride,” Pride Head Coach Tom Sermanni said. “With her game-time being limited, we felt it was better for her to take an opportunity in Europe where she will see more playing time.
“Her personality and character will be missed around our team. We wish her the best of luck.”
Before signing with the Pride, she spent the last two seasons with the Piteå IF team. She appeared in 25 games with the game, and had one goal.
She also spent part of the 2016 season with Umeå IK, where she appeared in 11 games. Ökvist had one goal during those 11 games.
She also another stint with Piteä IF from 2009 through 2015. She made 27 appearances, and also had one goal.
