Soul season ends with back-to-back Brigade losses

The Arena Football League Champion will be someone other than the Philadelphia Soul. The City of Brother Love celebrated the past two Arena Football League Championships.

The Soul ended their season with a 53-41 loss to the Baltimore Brigade on Friday night at Royal Farms Arena. There were 5,139 people at the game.

Philadelphia lost the two-game series in aggregates. The Soul needed to beat the Brigade by 12, as they fell by 12 points last Sunday. Instead, they lost in aggregates by 24 points.

The Soul ended their 2018 campaign with a 7-7 record. The Brigade improved to 9-5 on the season.

Baltimore will be one of the team’s in next weekend’s ArenaBowl game. They will face either the Albany Empire or the Washington Valor in the Championship game.

Brigade quarterback Randy Hippeard went 16 of 24 for 167 yards. He also had seven touchdowns.

Rory Nixon had five carries for eight yards. No other back had positive yardage.

Brandon Thompkins had nine receptions for 67 yards and two touchdowns. Brandon Collins had four receptions for 64 yards and three touchdowns. Quentin Sims also had a 24-yard touchdown reception.

Jordan McCray also had a seven-yard touchdown reception.

Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh went 25 of 37 for 274 yards. He also had six touchdowns and one interception.

Jeramie Richardson also had two rushing yards.

Darius Prince had seven receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Wascha had six receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown. Darius Reynolds had five receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Shaun Kauleinamoku had five receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown. Lonnie Outlaw also had a 29-yard touchdown reception.

Collins had two touchdowns in the second half for the Brigade. McCray also had a seven-yard touchdown.

With 56 seconds left, Mark Lewis made a 23-yard field goal.

The Soul had three different players score touchdowns in the second half. Wascha caught a six-yard touchdown, while Prince caught an eight-yard touchdown.

Outlaw had a 29-yard touchdown with less than six minutes left in the game.

Thompkins had two touchdowns in the second quarter. He first caught an eight-yard touchdown, before catching a five-yard touchdown.

Sims also caught a 24-yard touchdown in the first quarter. His teammate, Collins, caught a 37-yard touchdown just minutes into the game.

Both Prince and Reynolds had 26-yard touchdowns in the first half for the Soul. Kauleinamoku also caught a 13-yard touchdown with 57 seconds left in the half.
