Advance Auto Parts Funny Car pilot Courtney Force continued her dominance of No. 1 qualifiers this season. Force picked up her ninth No. 1 qualifier of the season at the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado.
Force picked up the No. 1 spot during her Friday qualifying pass. She went 3.949 at 309.91 mph in her second qualifying pass on the Mountain.
“It felt awesome and we had nothing to lose,” she said. “We were watching the cars ahead of us and knew that it would be my dad to take us out of the top spot or we would improve. It was a solid pass for us and we picked up a number of bonus points.”
The points leader will face Terry Haddock in the first round of eliminations on FOX at 3 pm EST on Sunday. Haddock went 4.466 at 278.46 to become the No. 16 qualifier.
Infinite Hero Foundation Funny Car pilot Jack Beckman – who decided to donate his brain to concussion research after his death on Friday – is the No. 2 qualifier after he went 3.973 at 316.67 mph. Beckman will face Todd Simpson, who was the No. 15 qualifier, following his 4.462 at 270.81 mph.
Auto Club-sponsored Robert Hight is the No. 3 qualifier after his 3.986 at 321.58 mph. Hight will face “The Surfer” Jeff Diehl, who went 4.287 at 272.50 mph.
Snap-On Tools Funny Car pilot Cruz Pedregon is the No. 4 qualifier. He went 3.992 at 318.32 mph and will face Head Inc.’s Jonnie Lindberg in the first-round of eliminations after he went 4.197 at 302.08 mph.
Living Legend and Peak Antifreeze-sponsored John Force is the No. 5 qualifier. He went 3.993 at 322.27 mph and will face Mopar-sponsored Matt Hagan in the first-round of eliminations, as he went 4.093 at 310.55 mph.
