UFC Fight Night Preview: Mauricio Rua vs. Anthony Smith

Mauricio Rua and Anthony Smith will face each other in the heavyweight main event from UFC Fight Night 134 at Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany. Rua is returning to the Octagon for the first-time since March 2017.

The 36-year-old Brazilian is 25-10 in his MMA career. He has 20 wins by knockout, with four wins by decision and one win by submission.

Of his 11 losses, he has five losses by knockout. He also has three losses by submission, and another three losses by decision.

Rua comes into this fight on a three-fight win streak. He defeated Gian Villante at UFC Fight Night 106 on March 11th, 2017 by TKO (punches). He then defeated Corey Anderson at UFC 198 by split decision on May 14th, 2016.

He defeated Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 190 on August 1st, 2015 by unanimous decision.

Rua has not lost a fight since he was defeated by Ovince St. Preaux at UFC Fight Night 56 on November 6th, 2014 when he lost by knockout.

Smith brings a 29-13 record into this MMA fight. He has 15 wins by knockout, along with 11 wins by submission, and two wins by decision. He also has a win over Ricky Duvall at VFC 23 on May 9th, 2008 that may have been a disqualification win.

He won his last fight, as he defeated Rashad Evans at UFC 225 via a knockout (knee). In the first round of July 9th, 2018. He has won four of his last five fights, as the lone loss comes to Thiago Santos at UFC Fight Night 125 by TKO (Kick of the Body and Punches) in the second-round win.
