According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tennessee Titans have given Taylor Lewan the richest deal ever for an offensive lineman. He has received a five-year, $80 million deal on Friday morning.

Getting Lewan’s extension deal done was one of their top priorities. His previous deal was set to expire following the 2018 season.

He arrived at camp on Wednesday with the rest of his teammates. Yet, while he was there with his teammates, the team, along with his agent, were working behind the scenes to strike a deal.

Lewan has become one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL. This is huge news for starting quarterback Marcus Mariota. Lewan is going to protect Mariota for years to come now.

“It is my obligation to sharpen my tools, and get ready for a really strong season,” Lewan said to titansonline.com. “I want this team to be successful, and I want to do whatever can to be the best left tackle I can be.”

Lewan was the Titans first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. This past season, he was named to his second Pro Bowl.

He was one of the NFL Top 100 players of 2018, as he was ranked No. 78 by his fellow players.

With the Titans, Lewan has appeared in 58 games, including 53 starts, in the past four-years. He has started all 32 games over the past two seasons and missed one game in 2015.
