Kalitta Air/DHL Top Fuel pilot Richie Crampton, along with Kalitta Motorsports, made s sponsorship announcement on Saturday before qualifying at the Toyota Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma Raceway. During the NHRA Facebook Livestream, Crampton said Craftsman Tools will be joining his team.
The sponsorship will not begin until the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway during Labor Day weekend. The partnership then will continue during the six-race Countdown to the Championship, beginning at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pa. in September.
When Crampton arrives at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, it’ll mark one-year since he joined the team. Crampton took over for Troy Coughlin Jr., who left the sit of the then-SealMaster before Indianapolis last year.
“I am very excited to represent an iconic brand like Craftsman as we finish out the NHRA season,” said Crampton. “The Craftsman identity is built on quality-made high-performance products and we look forward to bringing that same mentality to the race track delivering success to the Craftsman brand.”
Besides tools, Craftsman also makes lawn and garden equipment and work wear. The company started 91-years-ago on May 20th, 1927. The company was originally owned by Sears, before being bought by the Stanley Black & Decker company.
“Craftsman is a brand built on pride. We are proud of this new partnership, and look forward to seeing Richie behind the wheel of the Craftsman Top Fuel dragster,” said Allison Nicolaidis, Chief Marketing Officer for Global Tools & Storage at Stanley Black & Decker. “We’re excited to partner with Richie and the Kalitta Motorsports team as we introduce new Craftsman products that can be relied on by generations to come.”
This is not the first Motorsports sponsorship for the company. From 1998 through 2008, the company was the title sponsor for the NASCAR Truck Series, known as the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Since 2016, the company has been involved as the title sponsor for two World of Outlaws companies. They are now known as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Cup Series.
Craftsman also sponsors the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series.
This year, the company returned to NASCAR. They sponsor Erik Jones and Ryan Preece.
