Atco, N.J. — Advance Auto Parts-sponsored Josh Hart has advanced to his third straight final round at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series in the Northeast Division at Atco Dragway in Atco, N.J. Hart defeated Wayne Morris to advance to the final round.

The Ocala, Florida native went 5.337 at 272.12 mph in his 2015 Dan Page dragster. Morris, the Lincoln University, Pennsylvania native, went 5.560 at 253.14 mph in the semifinal.

While Hart has made it to the final round for the past three races at Atco Dragway, this will be the first-time he will not be facing Dan Page. He was eliminated in the first round by Morris in the only upset of the first-round.

Jackie Fricke had the upset in the semifinals, as she eliminated No. 1 qualifier Duane Shields. Fricke, the Flemington, New Jersey native, went 5.349 at 275.56 mph. Shields had problems from the hit, as he went 11.440 at 86.65 mph.

This is the first final round for both Fricke and Hart this season in the Northeast Division. Shields has two wins this season, as he defeated Karen Stalba at Lebanon Valley Dragway on July 1st. He also defeated Doug Foley at Maple Grove Raceway on May 27th.

Justin Ashley is the other NHRA Northeast Division winner. He defeated Jared Dreher at Virginia Motorsports Park back in April.

Hart won three straight wins in the NHRA Northeast Division last year with his last win at Atco Dragway last August. Fricke has not won an event in the NHRA Northeast Division since Maple Grove Raceway on May 28th in Reading, Pa. in 2017.
