NHRA LODRS TAD Atco Second Round Qualifying 2018

Atco, N.J. — Peak-sponsored Top Alcohol Dragster pilot Duane Shields is the No. 1 qualifier following the second round of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series qualifying on Friday at Atco Dragway. The Boulder City, Nevada native improved two positions from his first qualifying pass.

Shields went from the third position to be the No. 1 qualifier after he went 5.238 at 278.40 mph.

This is Shields’ first No. 1 qualifier in the Northeast Division in over a year. He was last the No. 1 qualifier at the July 21-23 race at New England Dragway when he went 5.316 at 276.86 mph.

Advance Auto Parts Top Alcohol Dragster pilot Josh Hart is the No. 2 qualifier. The Ocala, Florida native went 5.267 at 275.06 mph. Hart was the No. 1 qualifier following the first session.

Hart will look to win his third straight race at Atco Dragway. He defeated Daniel Page in the past two final rounds.

Page is the No. 3 qualifier after the Hampstead, New Hampshire native went 5.274 at 265.06 mph.

Jegs.com Top Alcohol Dragster pilot Troy Coughlin Jr. is the No. 4 qualifier. The Delaware, Ohio native qualified with a 5.318 at 279.85 mph pass.

Jackie Fricke is the No. 5 qualifier, as she went 5.320 at 274.05 mph. Fricke is the only driver with a McKinney chassis in the field, as there are three Hadman chassis, two Dan Page chassis, a Yancer chassis, and a DSR chassis.

Wayne Morris is the No. 6 qualifier. The Lincoln University, PA native went 5.424 at 269.83 mph in his Yancer chassis.

Former NHRA Top Fuel dragster pilot Doug Foley is the No. 7 qualifier. The Mooresville, North Carolina native went 5.449 at 261.12 mph.

Tiffany Januik – who is making her Atco Dragway debut – is the No. 8 qualifier. Januik improved from the tenth position to the eighth position, as the Las Vegas, Nevada native went 5.501 at 243.33 mph.

Januik’s husband and daughter is racing at the NHRA national event this weekend at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington. However, Januik bumped Chesterfield, N.J. native Frank Shuster from the bump position with her second qualifying pass.

  1. Duane Shields vs. Tiffany Januik
  2. Josh Hart vs. Doug Foley
  3. Daniel Page vs. Wayne Morris
  4. Troy Coughlin Jr. vs. Jackie Fricke
