Pomponio will face Permatex/Follow A Dream Top Alcohol driver Phil Burkhart Jr. in the final round. The final round is expected to begin around 8:30 pm EST.

For the second-time in eliminations, Burkhart Jr. received the competition bye. Burkhart Jr. went 6.332 at 168.20 and did not make a full pass, as he shut off the car near the finish line.

Burkhart Jr. is looking to win his second straight race at Atco Dragway. Last year, Burkhart Jr. defeated Aryan Rochan, who was making his debut at Atco Dragway, in the final round to get the Wally last year.

Pomponio won the last NHRA Northeast Division Top Alcohol Funny Car race at Lebanon Valley Dragway on July 1st, 2018 in West Lebanon, New York. He defeated Burkhart Jr. in the final round, as Pomponio went 5.829 at 253.52 mph to the New York native’s 5.992 at 236.67 mph.

Something will have to give in this matchup as we will either have a back-to-back winner at Atco Dragway or a back-to-back winner in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series in the Northeast Division in the Top Alcohol Funny Car category.
