Illegal street race causes death in Southwest Philadelphia

According to WPVI-TV, a motorcyclist was killed overnight due to an illegal street race. The motorcyclist, according to law enforcement authorities, says the motorcyclist was hit by a car, that was involved in an illegal street race in Southwest Philadelphia.

The incident happened at approx. 1 am on Sunday morning. The crash involving the motorcyclist and the car happened at Brewster Avenue near 76th Street.

The authorities said that the two cars were racing when one hit the motorcyclist head-on. The motorcyclist, who the authorities did not release his name, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the motorcyclist has been questioned by the authorities. The second driver reportedly fled the scene after the accident.

Street racing has been popular around the country. It has become even more popular since Street Outlaws became a hit on The Discovery Channel.

At first, Street Outlaws were racing on roads that were not blocked off. Now, The Discovery Channel gets permits for the show to block off roads for the drivers to race to allow it to become safer.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 50% of speeding passenger vehicle drivers involved in fatal crashes in 2016 were unrestrained at the time of the crash. 32% percent of male drivers 15-20 years old were speeding in fatal crashes in 2016.

We do not know if the driver of the vehicle that collided with the motorcyclist was a male.
