LSU Tigers junior wide receiver Drake Davis was arrested on charges of domestic battery after he allegedly attacked his former girlfriend by punching and grabbing her by the throat several times. He was suspended by the team on Friday.

Davis is facing a second degree battery charge, allegedly occurring between April and June 2018. The Advocate reports a school official alerted the LSU police after at least four incidents.

Reports also indicate that he punched her in the ribs so hard that it broke her ribs. The couple started dating in January 2017, before ending the relationship after the incidents.

She alleges that the first incident happened when she went to his home to get her possessions. However, he got angry and punched her.

He was angry at her again in April 2018 after she spent some time with her friends. He then punched her in her ribs, breaking at least one of her ribs.

She also provided photographic evidence that helped her case.

Davis also is accused of throwing her phone out of the car. After that incident, he also allegedly grabbed her by the throat when she went to get the phone.

“The warrant states that Davis strangled the victim in his car after waving to a friend,” Tiger Details reports.

Another incident happened when he allegedly became angry over a text message conversation. Following the text conversation, he went to the apartment, where the woman, the victim, was living. He allegedly punched her in the stomach and grabbed her by her throat once again — and even allegedly pulled her by her ear.

She even allegedly shown a text message to the authorities that said, “I might kill you.”

Davis had three receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns, including an 87-yard reception last year. He had just a 16-yard reception in 2016, his freshman campaign.

Despite being from Baton Rouge, La., he attended IMG Academy in Florida. The Tigers athletic website says, “One of the most athletic players perhaps to ever wear an LSU football uniform… Could have gone to college on football, basketball, or soccer scholarship … Poised for a breakout season in 2018.”

He’s the third Tigers player, who has already been suspended this year. Sophomore Guard Ed Ingram and sophomore linebacker Tyler Taylor. According to Tiger Detail, Ingram was arrested in Georgia, but there’s no word on why Taylor has been suspended.
