Matt Smith, who is now being backed by Elite Performance/Denso, is the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota. This is Smith’s second No. 1 qualifier at Brainerd International Raceway.
Smith went 6.852 at 198.47 mph during his first qualifying session on Friday. It is his second No. 1 qualifier of the season.
“The bike is working good,” said Smith. “We tried something today first round and it bogged down real bad but we went back and adjusted that and were low E.T. again in Q four. All in all, this new EBR bodywork we have is pretty fast and we have a good package right now.”
Smith will face Jimmy Underdahl in the first-round of eliminations on Sunday. Underdahl went 6.997 at 191.21 mph.
Hector Arana Jr. went 6.877 at 197.22 in his Lucas Oil TV Buell EBR for the No. 2 qualifying spot. He’ll face Scotty Pollacheck in the first-round of eliminations after he went 6.985 at 192.06 mph.
Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley Davidson Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Eddie Krawiec is the No. 3 qualifier after he went 6.8856 at 197.22 mph. Krawiec will face Ryan Oehler in the first-round of eliminations after he went 6.983 at 192.49 mph.
Krawiec’s Scream’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley Davidson Pro Stock Motorcycle teammate Andrew Hines is the No. 4 qualifier with his 6.899 at 195.76 mph pass. He’ll face Stoffer Racing’s Karen Stoffer in the first-round of eliminations after she went 6.979 at 191.05 mph.
Louisiana Alligator hunter Jerry Savoie is the No. 5 qualifier after he went 6.909 at 193.07 mph. Savoie will face Steve Johnson in the first-round of eliminations after he went 6.972 at 192.03 mph.
