Delaware Valley Rams hires Kevin Kohout as head coach

The Delaware Valley Aggies has hired Kevin Kohout as the school’s new men’s lacrosse head coach. He is now the second head coach in program history.

He replaces Gary Mercadante, who became the Ursinus Bears head coach two months ago.

“First and foremost I’d like to thank (DelVal director of athletics) Steve Cantrell and the search committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the men’s lacrosse program’” Kohout said. “Additionally, I would like to thank my family, coach (Jamie) Steele who coached me at Ursinus, coach (Keith) Euker from McDaniel and coach (Nick) Taylor at Arcadia, coach Mercadante, and all of my former players for their support and experiences they’ve provided me which I believe ultimately helped me earn this position.

Following his graduation from Ursinus, he was an assistant coach, along with being a strength and conditioning intern, with the McDaniel Green Terror. He also served as an assistant coach with the Rock Lacrosse Club in Baltimore, Maryland, while he was also employed by McDaniel.

In addition, he served as an assistant coach with the Arcadia Knights for one season.

“We’re excited to bring Kevin aboard as our new men’s lacrosse coach,” Cantrell said. “He is a talented professional who has pursued excellence both academically and athletically. This is echoed in his coaching philosophy and aligned with our mission and core values. We feel that he is a great addition to our staff at DelVal.”
