According to USA Today High School Sports, Dion Hardy, a 17-year-old standout basketball player from Saginaw, Michigan, has been arrested for attempted murder. He turned himself in, according to WJRT-TV, before he was able to begin his senior academic year at Arthur Hill High School.

The authorities had been looking for him. He was involved in an incident on August 10th.

The individual was attempting to drive in an area, according to Michigan State Police Lt. David Kaiser, and “encountered a group of people in the middle of the street” between Houghton Avenue and North Charles Street. Instead of the individuals moving in the street, the driver and the group had words, according to Kaiser.

The standout football player, and another man, got into a fight with the driver.

“He [the driver] is trying to get past him [Hardy],” Kaiser said. “The people won’t move. He eventually has words with a couple of the people. Eventually, he pulls out a knife and that ends the fight, and the two people back off.”

The two people, according to Kaiser, pulled out handguns and started shooting. The authorities allege that more than 12 bullets went through the vehicle; however, no one was hit.

“The two people he was fighting produced handguns and fired through the windshield and through the doors of the vehicle at least a dozen times,” Kaiser said. “The victim in the car leans over on the front seat and somehow is not struck by any of the bullets.”

Hardy was one of the two men, who fired shots, along with 20-year-old Ricky Morgan. They have been charged with assault with intent to murder.
