Wildcats snap Gators 31-game win streak in the series

The Kentucky Wildcats has snapped a 31-game losing streak against the Florida Gators. The Wildcats defeated the No. 25 Gators 27-16 on Saturday night at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 2-0. The Gators fell to 1-1.

Despite the loss, the Gators still lead the all-time series 51-18. The Wildcats fans have to go back to November, 15th, 1986, to find their last win before Saturday night when they won 10-3 over the Gators.

“This has been a long time coming” Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops. “I could not be more happy for our players and our fan base. They’ve waited a long, long time for this one.”

Wildcats quarterback Terry Wilson went 11 of 16 for 151 yards. He had two touchdown passes and one interception.

Benjamin Snell Jr. had 27 carries for 175 yards. Lynn Bowden Jr. had four receptions for 79 yards and one touchdown.

Gators quarterback Feleipe Franks went 17 of 38 for 232 yards. He also had two touchdown passes and one interception.

Franks also had 11 carries for 44 yards. Kadarius Toney had two receptions for 35 yards.

Kentucky outscored Florida 20-6 in the second half. Wilson scored on a 24-yard rushing touchdown. Wilson also hit Bowden Jr. for a 54-yard touchdown reception.

Davonte Robinson scored on a 30-yard fumble return for a touchdown as time expired.

Gators’ Franks hit Freddie Swain for a four-yard touchdown reception. Their two-point conversion failed.

Florida led 10-7 at halftime. Franks hit Moral Stephens for an 18-yard touchdown reception.

Evan McPherson also made a 29-yard field goal.

Wildcats’ Wilson hit David Bouvier for a 29-yard touchdown reception.
