Millican is the provisional No. 1 qualifier at the Midwest Nationals

Great Clips/Parts Plus Top Fuel Dragster pilot Clay Millican is the provisional No. 1 qualifier on Friday night at the seventh annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois. The Drummonds, Tennessee native went 3.692 at 329.83 mph.

Father and son then made up the next two positions. Capco Contractors Top Fuel Dragster pilot Steve Torrence, who won last weekend’s Dodge NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pa., is the provisional No. 2 qualifier. The Kilgore, Texas native went 3.717 at 326.48 mph.

His father, Billy Torrence, who won his first career race at Brainerd International Raceway in August, is the provisional No. 3 qualifier. The Kilgore, Texas native went 3.735 at 328.06 mph.

Pronto Service Center-sponsored Top Fuel Dragster pilot Blake Alexander is presently in the No. 4 position. The Charlotte, North Carolina native went 3.760 at 326.08 mph.

Papa John’s Top Fuel Dragster pilot Leah Pritchett is presently in the fifth position. The Danville, Indiana native went 3.761 at 325.69 mph.

The rest of the standings panned out like this:

6) Tony Schumacher 3.762 at 328.06 mph
7) Richie Crampton 3.774 at 320.05 mph
8) Mike Salinas 3.787 at 324.28 mph
9) Antron Brown 3.794 at 321.81 mph
10) Scott Palmer 3.795 at 322.96
11) Pat Dakin 3.796 at 322.58 mph
12) Terry McMillen 3.797 at 320.51 mph
13) Doug Kalitta 3.801 at 320.81 mph
14) Brittany Force 3.835 at 317.72 mph
15) Shawn Reed 3.842 at 321.96 mph
16) Luigi Novelli 4.010 at 217.98 mph

Presently there is one car that is not qualified. That is Lex Joon, as the Zaandam, Netherlands native went 4.244 at 202.45 mph.
