Coughlin Jr. to lead Pro Stock into St. Louis eliminations

Jegs.com/Elite Performance Pro Stock driver Jeg Coughlin Jr. is the No. 1 qualifier on Saturday at the seventh annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois. Coughlin Jr. picked up his 26th career No. 1 qualifier.

This is his third No. 1 qualifier. The Delaware, Ohio native went 6.496 at 211.76 to claim the top spot.

“It was close to ‘Disneyland’ conditions for the Pro Stock cars [Saturday],” Coughlin Jr. said. “That .49 in Q3 was quite a shot and heard around the pits for sure. It felt great to run in the forties and to get the No. 1 spot feels great going into [Sunday].”

His Elite Performance teammate, who is also sponsored by Melling Performance, Erica Enders-Stevens is the No. 2 qualifier. The Houston, Texas native went 6.508 at 212.53 mph.

Summit Racing Equipment sponsored driver Jason Line is the No. 3 qualifier. The Mooresville, North Carolina native went 6.513 at 212.79 mph.

Team Summit’s Jim Butner Auto sponsored driver Bo Butner is the No. 4 qualifier. The Floyd Knobs, Indiana native went 6.515 at 212.39 mph.

Ray Skillman Auto sponsored driver Drew Skillman is the No. 5 qualifier. The Bargersville, Indiana native went 6.515 at 211.89 mph.

Robert River was the only Pro Stock driver, who did not qualify for the show. The No. 17 qualifier went 6.794 at 203.06 mph.
