The Los Angeles Rams are the first team to stay perfect in Week 4. The Rams defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 38-31, on Thursday Night Football at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.
The Rams improved to 4-0 on the season, including 3-0 at home. The Vikings fell to 1-2-1 and they have not won on the road yet.
Rams quarterback Jared Goff went 26 of 33 for 465 yards. He also had five touchdowns.
According to Elias Sports, Goff is the first player to throw for 400 or more passing yards and five touchdowns on three days rest in NFL history. His five touchdowns are tied for the most in franchise history.
Kurt Warner, the Hall of Fame quarterback, also threw five touchdowns in 1999.
In addition, Elias Sports says that Goff and Cousins are the third pair of opposing quarterbacks to have 400 passing yards and three touchdowns in a game with zero interceptions in the same game in an NFL game.
Running back Todd Gurley II had 17 carries for 83 yards.
Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp had nine receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Brandin Cooks also had seven receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown. Robert Woods had five receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown. Gurley II also had four receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Gurley II has now scored a touchdown in seven straight games. It is the second-longest streak since Marshall Faulk had a touchdown in nine games from 2001 to 2002.
Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins went 36 of 50 for 422 yards. He also had three touchdowns.
Cousins also had four carries for 28 yards. Dalvin Cook also had 10 carries for 20 yards.
Adam Thielen had eight receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown. Stefon Diggs had 11 receptions for 123 yards. Kyle Rudolph had five receptions for 57 yards. Laquon Treadwell had four receptions for 47 yards. Aldrick Robinson had two receptions for 33 yards and two touchdowns.
Thielen has become the first player with 100 receiving yards in each of his team’s first four games since Randy Moss in 2007. Isaac Bruce in 2004 was the other player to do this since the 1970 merger.
The Vikings scored 11 points in the second half, while the Rams scored 10 points. Cousins hit Thielen for a 45-yard touchdown reception. Following the scoring play, Cousins hit Latavius Murray for the two-point conversion.
Dan Bailey also made a 40-yard field goal.
They also had a chance late to potentially tie the game. However, Cousins fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Rams.
Goff hit Woods for a 31-yard touchdown reception to give the Rams a 38-28 lead. Los Angeles kicker Sam Ficken also made a 34-yard field goal.
The Rams led 28-20 at halftime. All four touchdowns were from Goff touchdown passes. He first hit Gurley II for an eight-yard touchdown reception. He then hit Kupp for a 70-yard touchdown reception.
Goff also hit Kupp for a 19-yard touchdown reception. He hit Cooks for a 47-yard touchdown reception.
Cousins had two touchdown passes in the first half. He hit Robinson for a 16-yard touchdown reception. He also hit Robinson for a 17-yard touchdown reception.
Bailey also made two field goals.
