The Tulane Green Wave may want to wear this new uniform more often. In their new digs, the Green Wave defeated the Memphis Tigers, 40-24, on Friday night in Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Green Wave improved to 2-3 overall, including 1-0 in conference play. The Tigers fell to 3-2, but both of their losses have come in conference play.
Tulane is now tied with the SMU Mustangs with a 1-0 record in the American Athletic Conference West Division. Memphis fell to 0-2 within the West Division.
The Tigers are the only team in the entire conference that is 0-2.
Green Wave quarterback Jonathan Banks went 12 of 21 for 127 yards. Backup Justin McMillan went 1 of 1 for a 51-yard touchdown pass.
Darius Bradwell had 19 carries for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Corey Dauphine had 12 carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Stephon Huderson had eight carries for 58 yards. Jonathan Banks had 11 carries for 32 yards.
Darnell Mooney had four receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown. Terren Encalade had four carries for 35 yards. Huderson had a 21-yard rush.
Tigers quarterback Brady White went 14 of 30 for 246 yards. He also had two touchdowns.
Darrell Henderson had seven carries for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Damonte Coxie had five receptions for 67 yards. John Pop Williams had three receptions for 56 yards. Henderson had two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown. Tony Pollard had two receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown.
The Green Wave scored 23 points in the second half, while Memphis scored 17.
McMillian hit Mooney for a 51-yard touchdown reception. Dauphine also scored on a 46-yard rushing touchdown. Bradwell also scored on a 25-yard rushing touchdown.
Tulane also had a team safety in the fourth quarter.
Tigers got on the board in the second half when White hit Henderson for a 43-yard touchdown reception. White also hit Pollard for a two-yard touchdown reception.
Riley Patterson also made a 43-yard field goal.
Tulane led 17-7 at halftime. Dauphine scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown. Bradwell also scored on a 53-yard rushing touchdown.
Green Wave kicker Merek Glover also made a 20-yard field goal.
The Tigers got on the board when Henderson scored on a 47-yard rushing touchdown.
