King scores 5 TD’s in Houston’s win over Tulsa

The Houston Cougars defeated the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Thursday night. The Cougars won 41-26 at John O’Quinn Field at TDECU Stadium in Houston, Texas.

The Cougars improved to 4-1 on the season. Houston has now won back-to-back games, as they also defeated the Texas Southern Tigers 70-14 on Saturday, September 22nd.

The Golden Hurricane has fallen to 1-4 on the season. They have lost four straight games after defeating the Central Arkansas Bears, 38-27, in the season-opener.

Cougars quarterback D’Eriq King went 19 of 27 for 165 yards. He also had three touchdowns and two interceptions.

King also had 10 carries for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Patrick Carr had 13 carries for 91 yards. Mulbah Car had 11 carries for 74 yards. Terence Williams also had four carries for 29 yards.

Romello Brooker had four receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown. Marquez Stevenson had seven receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown. Keith Corbin had a 32-yard touchdown reception.

Golden Hurricane quarterback Seth Boomer went 13 of 31 for 227 yards. He also had a touchdown and an interception.

Corey Taylor II had 33 carries for 152 yards and a touchdown. Javon Thomas had 15 carries for 46 yards.

Keenen Johnson had five receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown. Justin Hobbs had four receptions for 82 yards. Keylon Stokes had four receptions for 54 yards.

Houston scored 24 points in the second half, while Tulsa scored 13. Cougars’ King scored on a 61-yard rushing touchdown. He also hit Brooker for a nine-yard touchdown reception.

King hit Stevenson for a six-yard touchdown reception. Dalton Witherspoon made a 33-yard field goal.

Taylor scored an eight-yard touchdown for the Golden Hurricane. Nathan Walker also made two field goals.

The Cougars led 17-13 at halftime. King hit Corbin for a 32-yard touchdown reception. King also scored on a 19-yard rushing touchdown.

Witherspoon also made a 40-yard field goal.

Tulsa’s Boomer hit Johnson for a 33-yard touchdown reception. Walker also made two field goals.
