NC native Smith leads PSM near Dallas on Friday

Denso Auto Parts/Elite Performance Pro Stock Motorcycle EBR driver Matt Smith is the provisional No. 1 qualifier on Friday at the 33rd annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas. The King, North Carolina native went 6.876 at 197.65 mph.

He is looking for his fifth No. 1 qualifier of the season. He is also looking for his second No. 1 qualifier at the Texas Motorplex. Should he claim the top spot on Saturday, it would be his 31st of his career.

“The conditions are pretty hot [Friday],” Smith stated. “The track seemed good for how hot it was. We were low first round by a hundredth and we will go to that set up [Saturday]. We’ve been to two finals in a row and hopefully, we can just keep that momentum going.”

Lucas Oil TV sponsored Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Hector Arana Jr. is the provisional No. 2 qualifier. The East Northport, New York native went 6.882 at 195.45 mph.

Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Pro Stock Motorcycle driver Eddie Krawiec is the provisional No. 3 qualifier. The Avon, Indiana native went 6.892 at 195.25.

Team Liberty Racing’s Angelle Sampey is the provisional No. 4 qualifier. The Mathews, Louisiana native went 6.906 at 194.86 mph.

White Alligator Racing’s Nitro Fish sponsored rider LE Tonglet is the provisional No. 5 qualifier. The Metairie, Louisiana native went 6.915 at 194.83 mph.
