The Chicago Bears have played linebacker Sam Acho on injured reserve. He will now be lost for the rest of the season.
The Bears waited one week make the news official. In a corresponding move, the team signed offensive lineman Bryan Witzmann.
Acho suffered a torn pectoral muscle last week. He signed a two-year deal with the Bears in the offseason.
The 30-year-old from Dallas, Texas did not record any starts in four games with the Bears.
In four years in Chicago, he has appeared in 51 games, with 25 starts. He also has 97 tackles, including six tackles for a loss, 25 quarterback hits, 4.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three pass deflections.
Acho began his career with the Arizona Cardinals, where he played the first four years of his career.
