New York Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia — who may have pitched in his final game — criticized umpire Ángel Hernández following the game. The Boston Red Sox defeated the Yankees, 4-3, on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.

With the win, the Red Sox advanced to the American League Championship Series. They will now face the Houston Astros beginning on Saturday.

Sabathia did not like how Hernández called the critical Game 4.

“He’s absolutely terrible,” Sabathia told reporters after the game. “He was terrible behind the plate [Tuesday night]. He was terrible at first base [Monday night in Game 3]. It’s amazing how he’s getting jobs umpiring in these playoff games.

“He shouldn’t be anywhere near these playoff games.”

While Sabathia did not like how Hernández called the game, Red Sox starter Rick Porcello defended Hernandez.

“Throw the ball over the plate, CC,” Porcello said, according to the New York Times. “I thought Ángel Hernández called a good game. You gotta put the ball over the white part of the plate and then you get the strikes called.”

Porcello was the winner in the game. In fact, it was his first postseason win of his career.

He went five innings and allowed one earned runs on four hits. He also struck out one batter.

Sabathia received the loss after going just three innings. He allowed three earned runs on five hits. He also struck out one batter and walked two more.
