The Phoenix Suns recently fired its general manager Ryan McDonough. Now, when the team needs to make a roster move, they have to rely on their interim GMs to make it happen.

The Suns are in desperate need of a starting-caliber point guard to go with their young core. If the team is approved for a disabled-player exception, the team will have $3,732,456 million to go find one.

They could sign or trade for a player with this exception with a player, who has an expiring contract.

The team applied for a disabled player exception on Darrell Arthur with the NBA. He was acquired in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

An NBA doctor would have to approve that Arthur would be out through June 15th, 2019. However, it is not clear exactly what is wrong with Arthur.

The 30-year-old is scheduled to make $7.4 million this season in a three-year, $23 million deal he signed with the Denver Nuggets. Following the 2018-19 season, he will become a free agent.

The Dallas, Texas native appeared in 19 games, including one start, last season with the Nuggets. He averaged 2.8 points, 0.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game.

The 19 games were the fewest games he ever played in a season. The previous fewest was during the 2009-10 season when he appeared in 32 games with one start with the Memphis Grizzlies.

He played five seasons with the Nuggets and four seasons with the Grizzlies. He was traded by the Nuggets, along with Kenneth Faried, a 2019 first-round draft pick and a 2020 second-round draft pick, to the Brooklyn Nets for Isaiah Whitehead on July 13th, 2018.

One week later, he was traded by the Nets to the Suns for Jared Dudley and a 2021 second-round draft pick.
