Capps is provisional Carolina Nationals FC leader on Friday in Concord, NC

NAPA Auto Parts NIGHTVISION Lamps Dodge Charger R/T pilot Ron Capps is the provisional No. 1 qualifier on Friday night at the NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by WIX Filters at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina. Capps is looking for his first No. 1 qualifier of the season.

Capps went 3.726 at 328.54 mph to claim the provisional top spot.

“We knew coming in that conditions were going to be great, better than great,” said Capps. “It could quite possibly as good tomorrow in Q4. By all means, we are not going to sit on this No. 1. Everybody knew coming in this was a great race track, the conditions were going to be good and you put it together, this is what you see.”

Levi, Ray, and Shoup Inc. Funny Car pilot Tim Wilkerson is the provisional No. 2 qualifier. The Springfield, Illinois native went 3.876 at 323.74 mph.

DHL Funny Car pilot J.R. Todd — who won the first race of the Countdown to the Championship at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pa. — is the provisional No. 3 qualifier. The Lawrenceburg, Indiana native went 3.894 at 327.90 mph.

Make-A-Wish Foundation Funny Car pilot Tommy Johnson Jr. is the provisional No. 4 qualifier. The Avon, Indiana native went 3.901 at 329.26 mph.

Mopar Express Lane Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat pilot Matt Hagan is the provisional No. 5 qualifier. The Christiansburg, Virginia native went 3.903 at 325.14 mph.

No. 8 John Force 3.932 329.26 mph
No. 9 Courtney Force 3.945 308.50 mph

No. 12 Bob Tasca III 4.004 313.80 mph
No. 13 Jim Campbell 4.035 309.42 mph
No. 14 Dale Creasy Jr. 4.235 280.72 mph
No. 15 Dave Richards 4.248 272.94 mph
No. 16 Jonnie Lindberg 4.869 159.99 mph

Presently, there is one Funny Car pilot, who is not qualified. That is the Gastonia, North Carolina native, who is the driver of the Tricktank.com Funny Car, who went 7.007 at 87.58.
