Bulls escape with one-point win over Golden Hurricane

The No. 23 USF Bulls needed to come-from-behind to defeat the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Friday night. The Bulls won 25-24 over the Golden Hurricane at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Bulls improved to 6-0 on the season. This was USF’s closest win of the season, as they previously defeated Illinois by six points, 25-19, on Saturday, September 15th.

The Golden Hurricane fell to 1-5 on the season. They have now lost five straight games after defeating Central Arkansas in the season-opener.

Like the Bulls, this was the closest game of the season for the Golden Hurricane. Previously, their closest game was 28-21 to the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, September 8th.

Bulls quarterback Blake Barnett went 17 of 39 for 237 yards. He also had an interception.

Jordan Cronkite had 25 carries for 151 yards and a touchdown. Johnny Forced had nine carries for 59 yards. Barnett also had nine carries for 24 yards and two touchdowns.

Mitchell Wilcox had five receptions for 95 yards. Tyre McCants had eight receptions for 91 yards. Darnell Salomon had three receptions for 41 yards.

Golden Hurricane quarterback Seth Boomer went 6 of 21 for 79 yards. He also had a touchdown.

Shamari Brooks had 28 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Javon Thomas had 10 carries for 74 yards. Boomer also had 11 carries for 46 yards.

Jarion Anderson had three receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown. Josh Stewart also had a 28-yard reception.

South Florida scored 22 second-half points, while Tulsa scored just 14. Cronkite scored on a 66-yard rushing touchdown. Barnett scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. Following this score, the Weiss extra point was blocked

Barnett also scored on a 12-yard rushing touchdown. Following this score, the two-point run conversion failed. Weiss also made a 22-yard field goal.

Tulsa’s Brooks scored on a 10-yard rushing touchdown at 6:04 in the third quarter. At 1:00 in the same quarter, he scored on another 10-yard rushing touchdown.

The Golden Hurricane led 10-3 at halftime. Boomer hit Anderson for a 14-yard touchdown. Nathan Walker also made a 34-yard field goal.

Bulls kicker Coby Weiss also made a 22-yard field goal.
