Force sweeps Charlotte No. 1 qualifiers

Advance Auto Parts/Monster Energy Top Fuel Dragster pilot Brittany Force is the No. 1 qualifier on Saturday at the NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by WIX Filters at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina. She has been the No. 1 qualifier for both Charlotte races this year.

The reigning Top Fuel champion went 3.700 at 330.72 mph in the fourth qualifying session of the weekend. This is the Yorba Linda, California native’s 10th No. 1 qualifier of her career.

She’ll face rookie Audrey Worm in the first-round of eliminations. The Grantville, Pennsylvania native went 4.057 at 266.11 mph.

“We’re looking good going into race day,” Force said. “Our team has really been struggling this year in qualifying and we made some changes with the car the last few weekends. This weekend, I’m really hoping we’re going to turn the corner. We are happy and I have to thank all of my guys. They’ve been working around the clock and I would like to get all of us in the winner’s circle.”

Capco Contractors Top Fuel Dragster pilot Steve Torrence is the No. 2 qualifier. The Kilgore, Texas native — who won the first three races of the Countdown to the Championship — went 3.704 at 331.53 mph.

He’ll face Chris Karamesines in the first-round of eliminations. The Chicago, Illinois native went 3.992 at 282.66 mph.

Great Clips/Parts Plus Top Fuel Dragster pilot Clay Millican is the No. 3 qualifier. The Drummonds, Tennessee native went 3.718 at 321.73 mph.

He’ll face Kyle Wurtzel in the first-round of eliminations. The Warsaw, Indiana native went 3.901 at 291.82 mph.

Scrappers Racing Top Fuel pilot Mike Salinas is the No. 4 qualifier. The San Jose, California native went 3.720 at 329.02 mph.

He’ll face Pat Dakin in the first-round of eliminations. The Dayton, Ohio native went 3.859 at 312.57 mph.

Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster pilot Doug Kalitta is the No. 5 qualifier. The Ann Arbor, Michigan native went 3.727 at 327.59 mph.

He’ll face Scott Palmer in the first-round of eliminations. The Cassville, Missouri native went 3.788 at 326.56 mph.

There was one Top Fuel Dragster on the property that did not qualify for the show. Indianapolis, Indiana native Lex Joon was the 17th qualifier, as he went 4.356 at 178.19 mph.
