TCU loses QB Robinson for season

Just hours after KaVontae Turpin was arrested, the TCU Horned Frogs lost their starting quarterback for the season. Shawn Robinson will have season-ending shoulder surgery.

Head coach Gary Patterson announced the news on Monday morning. Michael Collins, the former Penn transfer, will now be the starter for the rest of the season.

The sophomore Desoto, Texas native went three of eight for 21 yards in the Horned Frogs 52-27 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, October 20th, 2018.

Robinson has gone 124 of 204 for 1,334 yards. He also has nine touchdowns and eight interceptions.

On October 11th against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the 17-14 loss, Robinson went 26 of 45 for 290 passing yards. He also had two touchdowns and two interceptions.

That was his second-best game of the season in terms of passing yards. On September 15th against the Ohio State Buckeyes, he went 24 of 40 for 308 yards in their 40-28 loss. He also had a touchdown and two interceptions.

Collins, the sophomore New Canaan, Connecticut native, went 7 of 17 for 142 yards with two touchdowns and an interception against the Sooners.

On the season, he has gone 13 of 31 for 247 yards. He has three touchdowns and an interception.

With Collins now the starter, he is joined on the quarterback depth chart by Grant Beucler, a freshman from LaPorte, Indiana. Grayson Muehlstein is the most-experienced player, as he is a senior from Decatur, Texas.

Karson Ringdahl is also a sophomore from Columbia, Missouri and Justin Rogers is a freshman from Bossier City, Louisiana.
