Falcons pick up third win, as Giants continue to struggle

The Atlanta Falcons picked up their third win of the season. They defeated the New York Giants, 23-20, on Monday Night Football at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Falcons improved to 3-4 on the season. All three of their wins have come at home this season.

They have now won back-to-back games.

The Giants fell to 1-6 on the season. The team has now lost four straight games.

Since their infamous boating trip prior to their playoff game with the Green Bay Packers on January 8th, 2017 at Lambeau Field, the team is 4-20.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan went 31 of 39 for 379 yards. He also had a touchdown.

Tevin Coleman had 11 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown.

Julio Jones had nine receptions for 104 yards. Marvin Hall had three receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown. Austin Hooper had three receptions for 48 yards. Calvin Ridley had five receptions for 43 yards. Coleman had two receptions for 32 yards.

Jones now has 812 receiving yards without a touchdown. That’s the most through a team’s first seven games without a touchdown, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning went 27 of 38 for 399 yards. He also had a touchdown.

Saquon Barkley had 14 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown.

Sterling Shepard had five receptions for 167 yards. Odell Beckham Jr. had eight receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown. Barkley had nine receptions for 51 yards.

New York outscored Atlanta 14-13 in the second half. Barkley scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown. Following the touchdown, the two-point pass conversion failed.

Manning hit Beckham Jr. for a one-yard touchdown reception. Barkley was able to score on the team’s second two-point conversion attempt.

Coleman scored the Falcons lone touchdown in the second half, as he scored on a 30-yard rushing touchdown. Giorgio Tavecchio also made two field goals, including a crucial 56-yard field goal with 1:55 left in the game.

The Falcons led 10-6 at halftime. Ryan hit Hall for a 47-yard touchdown reception. Tavecchio also made a 40-yard field goal.

Giants kicker Aldrick Rosas also made two field goals.
