According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, the much-speculated trade between the UFC and ONE Championship has been completed. Demetrious Johnson will go to One Championship, while Ben Askren joins the UFC.

“Mighty Mouse” used to be the flyweight champion before losing the belt to Henry Cejudo in August at UFC 227.

According to Helwani, both parties are happy with the team. It’s also the first trade in MMA history between promotions.

Helwani also insists that Johnson wanted to sign with One Championship. In addition, he said that Askren wanted an opportunity to prove himself that he’s the best in the UFC.

Both fighters are expected to receive new contracts with their respective companies.

The 32-year-old Kirkland, Washington native is the latest addition to the One Championship roster. The company also recently signed former UFC fighter Eddie Alvarez to a contract.

Johnson is 27-3-1 in his MMA career. He has won 11 wins by decision and another 11 wins by submission. He also has five knockout wins.

All three of his losses have come via decision. He lost to Cejudo via a split decision on August 4th, 2018.

The loss to Cejudo was his first since losing to Dominic Cruz on October 1st, 2011. Cruz defeated Johnson at UFC Live 6 on October 1st, 2011.

In between the losses, he had one draw and won 13 straight fights.

The 34-year-old Askren is 18-0-1 in his MMA career. The Phoenix, Arizona has already began calling out several welterweight fighters.

He has won seven fights by decision and another six fights by knockout. He also won five fights by submission.

Askren has been fighting with One Championship since 2014. Prior to that, he worked in Bellator and two other promotions, MFDM (Max Fights DM) and HP (Headhunter Productions).

Within One Championship, he went 4-0-1. He won back-to-back fights by TKO (Punches), as he first defeated Zebaztian Kadestam in the second round on September 2nd, 2017. He then defeated Shinya Aoki with a first-round on November 24th, 2017.

He also defeated Agilan Thani on May 26th, 2017 via a first-round submission with an arm-triangle choke. Askren also defeated Nikolay Aleksakhin on April 15th, 2016 via a unanimous decision.

The no contest came against Luis Santos on April 24th, 2015 after there was an eye poke in the first-round.
