The Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday in Game 5 of the 2018 World Series. The Red Sox won 5-1 over the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

With the win, the Red Sox defeated the Dodgers 4-1 in the World Series. As a result, Los Angeles has lost back-to-back World Series, as they were defeated by the Houston Astros in last year’s Fall Classic.

Steve Pearce was named the MVP of the series. He had three home runs and eight RBIs in the World Series.

The Red Sox had 119 wins, including the postseason. That’s the second-most for a World Series champion in MLB history. The 1998 New York Yankees had the most with 125.

Pearce is also just the second player to win the World Series MVP after playing for multiple teams during the regular season, according to ESPN’s Stats & Information. Donn Clendenon was the first player to do this in 1969.

In addition, manager Alex Cora — who was in his first season as the manager with the team — is the first manager to win a World Series from Puerto Rico. He said after getting the win that he wanted to bring the trophy to his country.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Steve Pearce hit a 408-foot home run to left field for the 5-1 lead. One inning earlier, they increased the lead to 4-1, as J.D. Martinez hit a 411-foot home run to center field.

The Red Sox went up 3-1 when Mookie Betts — who struggled in Los Angeles — hit a 385-foot home run to left field. Betts’ home run was the seventh home run allowed by Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw in a potential elimination game.

That’s the most all-time.

The bottom of the first inning, David Freese hit a 402-foot home run to cut the Boston lead to 2-1.

In the first inning of the game, Pearce hit his first home run, a 405-foot shot to center field to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. Andrew Benintendi scored on the play.

David Price won the game. He went seven innings and allowed just one earned rune. He also struck out five batters and two walks.

Kershaw went seven innings. He allowed four earned runs in the losing effort. He also struck out five batters.
