Initial 2018 CFP: Top 25 Released

The initial College Football Playoff: Top 25 came out on Tuesday night. The Alabama Crimson Tide is the No. 1 team in the ranking.

The Tide — the reigning College Football Playoff National Champion — has been the No. 1 all season before the rankings, as they are 8-0 and dominated all their opponents thus far. They will face their toughest test of the season on Saturday.

Alabama travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to face No. 3 LSU Tigers for Saturday night’s nationally televised game. CBS will have the game at 8 pm.

The Clemson Tigers are the No. 2 ranked team. They are also 8-0. The Tigers have been in every rankings since 2015.

The Tigers have a challenge from the Louisville Cardinals at home on Saturday. The 8-0 Clemson team faces the 2-6 Cardinals at noon.

As aforementioned, the LSU Tigers are the No. 3 team in the rankings. They are the only team in the top four, who has suffered a loss.

The Tigers were defeated on October6 by The Florida Gators.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are the No. 4 team in the rankings. The Irish are 8-0.

Notre Dame is on the rod Saturday night. They travel to Evanston, Illinois, as they face the Northwestern Wildcats.

The home team brings a 5-3 record into the contest.

The Michigan Wolverines — who lost to the Irish in the season-opener — are the No. 5 team in the rankings. The Wolverines are 7-1.

Michigan has a big challenge at home this Saturday afternoon. No. 14 Penn State (6-2) travels to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the game.

The No. 6 team is the George Bulldogs. The No. 3 Tigers blew out the Bulldogs, 36-16, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on October 13th.

The Bulldogs have a tough test on the road. They travel to Lexington, Kentucky to face No. 11 Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday at 3:30 pm in a match up of 7-1 teams.
