By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher According to MLB Network, All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto will not sign an extension with the Miami Marlins in the off-season. In addition, he expects to be dealt by the franchise. His name has already been brought up with other teams dating back to last off-season and before the trade deadline. However, nothing materialized. “I think he will definitely be wearing a different uniform by the start of spring training,” his agent Jeff Berry said. Realmuto is arbitration eligible. He is not available to be become a free agent until after the 2021 season. That’s, of course, if he does not sign an extension with his new team — should he be traded —before he is eligible to become a free agent. Berry made it clear to the Marlins that Realmuto would not stay with the team. Since Derek Jeter’s ownership group took over, the team has traded Dee Gordon, Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna, and Christian Yelich. The team also traded Justin Bour during the regular-season. He was moved to the Philadelphia Phillies in August. There’s a good chance that Yelich will be the National League MVP. “J.T., you know, he’s informed the Marlins ownership, he’s informed their front office he’s not going to sign an extension in Miami,” Berry said. “From that standpoint, you could keep him for two years, or not. And it makes sense when you have one of the more valuable trade assets in baseball to move him. Period.”
