Rockets blow out Cardinals on Halloween

The Toledo Rockets defeated the Ball State Cardinals on Halloween on Wednesday night. The Rockets won 45-13 over the Cardinals at the Glass Bowl in Toledo, Ohio.

The Rockets have now won five straight games in the series, dating back to a September 20, 2014 meeting. Toledo has won eight out of the last 10 meetings dating back to October 3rd, 2009.

Toledo improved to 5-4 with the win. They are 3-2 within conference play.

The Rockets have now won back-to-back games, as they also defeated the Western Michigan Broncos.

Ball State fell to 3-7 with the loss. They are now 2-4 within conference play.

The Cardinals have now lost three straight games, as they were also defeated by the Eastern Michigan Eagles and the Ohio Bobcats.

Rockets quarterback Eli Peters went 25 of 34 for 327 yards. He also had two touchdowns and four interceptions.

Desmond Phillips also went 0 of 1 for 0 yards and an interception.

Art Thompkins had 13 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown. Bryant Koback had 15 carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Shakif Seymour had four carries for 19 yards.

Diontae Johnson had five receptions for 100 yards. Cody Thompson had six receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown. Bryce Mitchell had a 41-yard touchdown reception. Drew Rosi had three receptions for 39 yards.

Cardinals quarterback Drew Plitt went 29 of 47 for 340 yards. He also had one touchdown and two interceptions.

Will Jones had 12 carries for 49 yards. Malik Dunner had 10 carries for 38 yards and a touchdown. Justin Hall had three carries for 29 yards.

Riley Miller had five receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown. Hall had 10 receptions for 82 yards. Yo’Heinz Tyler had three receptions for 45 yards. Corey Lacanaria had four receptions for 37 yards. Kyle Schrank had two receptions for 30 yards.

Toledo scored 17 points in the second-half. Peters hit Mitchell for a 41-yard touchdown reception. Peters also hit Thompson for a 23-yard touchdown reception.

Jameson Vest also connected on a 29-yard field goal.

Ball State had six points in the second-half. Dunner scored on an 11-yard rushing touchdown. Following the score, the two-point conversion failed.

Toledo led 28-7 at halftime. Koback scored on a 19-yard rushing touchdown. Thompkins also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Tuzar Skipper scored on a zero-yardage fumble recovery. Koback also scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown.

Cardinals’ Plitt hit Miller for an 18-yard touchdown reception.
