The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be without starting quarterback Ian Book against the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday. Book is sidelined with a rib injury.
He suffered the injury against the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday, November 3rd. The Irish won the game 31-21 in the first trip to Evanston, Illinois since 1976.
It is not exactly clear when Book was injured against the Wildcats.
He did get hit in the first quarter that caused him to be slowly to get up afterwards. Book went 22 of 34 for 343 yards with two touchdowns in the game.
He also had 11 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Book took the starting job away from starter Brandon Wimbush in Week 3. He gave the offense a spark that it needed early in the season, which led to head coach Brian Kelly naming the El Dorado Hills, California native the starter.
In his first four starts after being named the starter, he became the first Notre Dame quarterback to complete at least 70% of his passes in those four straight games.
Book has gone 152 of 204 for 1,824 yards in seven games. He also had 15 touchdowns and four interceptions.
The 21-year-old Teaneck, New Jersey native has gone 42 of 76 for 589 yards in four starts. He also had one touchdown and four interceptions.
In his season with the Irish came as a junior when he went 136 of 275 for 1,870 yards in 12 starts. He also had 16 touchdowns and six interceptions.
