The Pittsburgh Steelers are just hours away from hosting the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pa. The team may be without one of its stars if they elect to discipline him before the game.
According to WPXI, Steelers star Antonio Brown was cited for reckless driving Thursday morning. The TV station is reporting that a Ross Township police officer was on the look out for a possible bank robbery suspect when he saw a car speeding past them.
The car was clocked in excess of 100 mph. After being pulled over, the driver was identified as the wide receiver.
He was going southbound on McKnight Road near the intersection with Babcock Boulevard. The bank robbery happened at WesBanco in McCandless Crossing.
“We are aware of the situation, but we are still gathering information,” the Steelers said in a statement. “We won’t have any further comment at this time.”
He has 51 receptions for 594 yards and nine touchdowns through eight starts. He had nine touchdowns in 2017 through 14 starts.
His best game of the season came in Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He had five receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Only twice this season has he caught more than 100 receiving yards in a game. He also had six receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons.
