The Boise State Broncos defeated the No. 23 Fresno State Bulldogs on Friday night. The Broncos won 24-17 over the Bulldogs at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho.
The Broncos improved to 8-2 on the season. They are now 5-1 within the Mountain West – Mountain Division.
Boise State has now won five straight games.
The Bulldogs fell to 8-2 on the season. They are also now 5-1 in Mountain West – West Division.
Fresno State had its seven-game win streak snapped. It’s their first loss since losing to the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Week 2.
Broncos quarterback Brett Rypien went 24 of 29 for 269 yards. He also had one touchdown and one interception.
Alexander Mattison had 30 carries for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Rypien had eight carries for 30 yards.
A.J. Richardson had five receptions for 66 yards. Sean Modster had five receptions for 63 yards. Khalil Shakir had four receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Bulldogs quarterback Marcus McMaryion went 24 of 35 for 283 yards. He also had a touchdown.
Jordan Mims had eight carries for 47 yards. Ronnie Rivers had seven carries for 33 yards and a touchdown.
KeeSean Johnson had eight receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown. Rivers had seven receptions for 60 yards. Derrion Grim had four receptions for 57 yards. Jared Rice had three receptions for 43 yards.
Boise State had 17 second-half points. Mattison scored on a seven-yard rushing touchdown. Mattison also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.
Rypien also hit Shakir for a 49-yard touchdown reception.
Fresno State had just seven second-half points. Rivers scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.
The Bulldogs led 10-3 at halftime. McMaryion hit Johnson for a three-yard touchdown reception. Asa Fuller also made a 47-yard field goal.
Broncos’ Haden Hoggarth also made a 35-yard field goal.
