The Chicago Sky has hired James Wade as their new head coach and general manager. He spent the past two seasons as the Minnesota Lynx assistant coach.
With the Lynx, he worked under Cheryl Reeve. He also helped guide the team to the 2017 WNBA Championship.

“We are thrilled to have James join our franchise,” said Sky owner Michael Alter. “James is a widely-respected and dynamic leader. He has as special way of connecting with players and a demonstrated track record of helping push them to achieve their highest levels of success, which is why we are confident in the Sky’s future under his leadership.”
Prior to joining the Lynx, he worked four seasons with the San Antonio Stars from 2013 through 2016, as a full-time staff member. He also worked with the team in 2012.
He played professionally overseas from 2001 through 2013. Wade played in the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Belgium.
With the Sky making this announcement, there is only one WNBA coaching job left to be filled. That’s with the Dallas Wings.
