New York Jets are expected to part ways with head coach Todd Bowles at the end of the season. He has been on the hot seat but would be allowed to complete the season.
The Jets are currently on a bye week. According to FootballScoop, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said it is unlikely Bowles survives lasts past the season.
“Change is expected barring some sort of unforeseen circumstance in New York,” Rapoport said.
Bowles has been on the hot seat this season. There was even speculation that he might get fired as the team went into the bye week in order to give the new coach time to install their offense.
They did not happen.
The 54-year-old Elizabeth, New Jersey native has been the Jets head coach since the 2015 season. New York is 3-7 and are tied with the Buffalo Bills, who are also 3-7 in the bottom of the AFC East standings.
In the past three seasons, he has just 13 wins. Prior to this season, Bowles had back-to-back 5-11 seasons.
In his first season with the team, the Jets went 10-6.
The Jets thought that when they used the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft on Sam Darnold, this season would be different. However, New York has lost four straight games.
The streak could become five straight games next Sunday, as they lost the New England Patriots.
This is not the first-time that we have heard that Bowles could lose his job. At the end of last season, he was on the hot seat, as well.
