Bruins’ Bergeron out at least a month

Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron will miss a month with a suspected shoulder injury. He was injured when he went head-first into the sideboards.

The 33-year-old suffered the injury in a 1-0 loss to the Dallas Stars on Friday night. He had two shots on goal in the game.

He visited with doctors on Monday. Bergeron was already scheduled to miss Wednesday’s game with the Detroit Red Wings before Tuesday’s announcement.

Bergeron could potentially return to the team on Thursday, December 20th against the Anaheim Ducks at home at 7 pm EST. If he does not return in that game, he could return against the Nashville Predators on Saturday, December 22nd, also at home at 1 pm EST.

Boston has a road game on Sunday, December 23rd against the Carolina Hurricanes at 5 pm EST.

If he is unable to return for those three games, the Bruins will have two games prior to the end of the year. They will have a home game against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, December 27th at 7 pm.

They will finish out the year on Saturday, December 29th at 7 pm against the Buffalo Sabres.

In nine games this season, Bergeron has 9 goals and 17 assists for 26 points. He also has a 3 +/- and a 10 PIM.

He has six even-strength goals with two power-play goals. Bergeron also had one short-handed goal and one game-winning goal.

He has not scored since November 10th against the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the Bruins’ win, he had a goal and two assists for three points.
